The brief

The task was to say something about geometry without stating it outright. The piece draws an analogy between the stereotyped female body and the idea of a geometric standard, reading that figure as a normative construction: idealized proportions, fixed schemes.

It is built with die-cuts and transparencies.

The six faces of the piece laid flat: black and white photographs of the body cut through with triangles and circles.

Transparencies
The piece held against the light: the transparencies lay one page's figure over the next.
Held to the light, one figure lands on top of the one behind it.
